How much does an opera cost? How are the costumes made? Who is responsible for the stage design? How is a production concept developed? – In cooperation with the TheaterGemeinde Berlin, artists and staff of the Komische Oper Berlin offer exclusive insights into the world behind the scenes of an opera house.
Following the success of backstage visits for past productions, this season offers a look at a very special opera in the form of Leoš Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová . The Dutch producer Jetske Mijnssen is staging this masterpiece of musical modernism, which is also one of the most success works written by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček.
Leading up to the premiere this season, the audience will have the opportunity on four different dates to get a closer look at the workings of the opera. There will be talks at the workshops with leading staff members of the Komische Oper Berlin and the production of Káťa Kabanová , at rehearsals and during other exclusive background discussions.
