Song recitals in the foyer
Olivier Messiaen’s »Harawi« (1945) is a hymn to love. His sources of inspiration range from South American folksongs to urban surrealism, taking in birdsong along the way. The result is a tonal language bursting with exuberance and tenderness.
This series of events conceived by John Parr and developed jointly with the Haus für Poesie is a mixed showcase of songs and readings. On each of the four evenings in the foyer of the Deutsche Oper Berlin a poet will present works that tie in thematically with the songs on the programme. This season also has a new feature: »Songs and Poems« for children.
