While living in Vienna in the last decade of his life, alongside his abiding passion for opera, Mozart’s attention centred on the piano concerto. He composed more than a dozen, drawing in part on earlier experience from Salzburg, where he had written the piano concerto KV 217, nicknamed the »Jeunehomme«. The symphony genre likewise bridges his early and later careers. Whereas the »Little G minor« symphony (KV 183) from 1773 typifies a youthful Mozart, his »Prague Symphony« showcases his mature Classical style.
